$6.24 million
Amount of money the Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office spent on its cash for appliances rebate program, which ended yesterday. The state's cash for appliances program, which started on April 12, offered mail-in rebates on dishwashers ($75 or $125), electric heat-pump water heaters ($425), gas storage-tank and tankless water heaters ($200 and $300, respectively), and washing machines ($125 or $200). The rebate amount for dishwashers and washing machines differed based on efficiency of those appliances.
State residents were encouraged rather than required to recycle old appliances. They needed to self-certify that they were replacing their clunkers and had 30 days from when they reserved a rebate to submit their claim. Arizonans can check on status of their rebate, which they'll receive in the form of a prepaid Visa card.
Cash for appliances has closed in 16 locations, and rebates are still available in 35 states and
territories. To see how much money remains where you live and for program details, read our post from yesterday.
